Our School Aims
Every day offers opportunities to the children
for learning and understanding the world in which we live. We will strive
to provide a climate for achievement for children and staff within a friendly,
caring environment. We aim to promote high expectations in a quality environment,
where children will be happy and will want to learn and develop into independent,
creative thinkers. We want to encourage the children, with the help of
their parents/carers, to have respect for themselves, other children,
their parents, school staff and the local community. We are committed
to improvement by raising standards and continually providing challenging
yet appropriate activities for the children.
We aim to develop in the children positive attitudes
towards themselves, with a strong sense of self-respect. Self-confidence
will create an understanding of the need to respect others, their property,
their ideas and beliefs, irrespective of gender, race, disability and
academic achievement. In aiming to fulfil each child's needs we will aim
to create an environment of achievement, where all forms of discrimination
are actively challenged.
We aim to celebrate the diversity of languages,
cultures, backgrounds, faiths and beliefs and recognise the positive contribution
that they can make within the school.
We aim to provide a safe, welcoming, caring environment
within a well-maintained site, featuring displays of high quality which
are informative and/or show achievement.
We want to create a welcoming atmosphere and foster
good relationships with parents and community. We value the contribution
of all members of our community, children, staff, parents, governors and
friends.
We aim to maintain and enhance our relationship with Lydgate House,
Soothill Manor, the Whitfield Centre for the Blind and Soothill Community
Centre. Links, too, will be forged with Soothill Community Forum and several
local Churches, businesses and sporting facilities. We will work with
various agencies seeking specialist help to support our children and families.
