Celebration assembly

Our celebration assembly will be held on Thursday 20th July at 2.30pm.  Please come and join us.

A special farewell assembly to children leaving Lydgate this year will be held on Friday 21st July at 2.45pm. Parents of ‘leavers’ are invited to attend this assembly.

Punctuality

We have a large number of children who regularly arrive late for school. From September, parents who bring their children to school after 9am must come with their child to the school office to sign them in. This is to try & help us to reduce the number of late arrivals each day. Parents who do not sign their children into school will be contacted by the Learning Mentor.

New Staff

We have recently appointed Miss Callaghan as our learning mentor. She will work specifically with children who are experiencing difficulties at school. She will also help to tackle poor attendance and punctuality and will be based in the spare classroom.

Mrs Williams and Mrs Daud will be joining us as classroom support assistants for KS2 and Mrs Mohmed will teach in Year 1 as half of the job-share, alongside Mrs Davis.

Moving Rooms

We will be moving some KS2 classrooms during the last week of term. The Music Room will become the Yr 6 classroom and Mrs Nicholson’s room will become the spare classroom. The outside doors will be labelled to ensure that you know where to take your child in September!.

Year 6 Business Project

The Year 6 business project was a great success making a total profit of £190. The most successful team were the ‘Junior Apprentices’ who made £121.58 profit. This team were responsible for the mascot photos, stationery stall and home-made buns. The class were very well supported by 3 students from Batley Business & Enterprise College.

Breakfast Club

Unfortunately the plans to have a  breakfast / after school club which was to be run by Dizzy Tops have not progressed. There are no further plans to run these clubs at this time.

School Uniform

Please can I remind you that all children are expected to wear full school uniform every day. Also, children are expected to do PE in navy shorts / leggings and a white T-shirt. Jewellery is not to be worn at school for safety reasons.

Building Improvements

You will notice some improvements to our school building in September. Over the holidays we are having some windows replaced, toilets re-furbished and the paving stones at the front of school re-laid. I am sure this will improve our school building, ready for the new term.

Donation to Dewsbury Hospital

A cheque for £395.16 has been sent to the asthma clinic at Dewsbury Hospital. This money was collected at the summer fair and KS2 productions. Money from the Year 6 business project was also donated by the children.

School Profile

The school is no longer required to produce an annual report to parents. Instead, we now produce a school profile which details our achievements during the year. This is available at: http://schoolprofile.parentscentre.gov.uk/.
If you would like a paper copy, these can be obtained from school at a small charge.

Finally…. Don’t forget…school re-opens on Monday 4th September at 8.50am.

The staff and I hope you have a lovely holiday and thank you for your continuing support.
