Red Nose Day

The children raised £101.30 by wearing ‘big clothes’ to school. They all had a great day and enjoyed making big newspaper structures in the Hall. Thank you for your support with this.

Sports Clubs

The school football team took part in the inter-schools tournament on Saturday 10th March. The team played extremely well but were unfortunately knocked out just before the semi finals. The netball team took part in the ‘hi five’ tournament on 22nd March. The cricket team will be taking part in the inter- schools rally in June.
Well done to the children who take part in these teams and ‘thank you’ to the staff who coach them.

Fundraising

We will be holding a sponsored event run by ‘Get Fit Kids’ on May 11th. The children will be sponsored to take part in exercise activities and the morning will end with a gymnastic display by the professional gymnasts. Money raised will go towards improving the outside play areas.

SEAL/ Easter assemblies

After much discussion with staff and parents I have decided to change the format of our end of half term assemblies. Whilst I realise that the children enjoy getting their certificates, I am conscious that the assembly takes a long time and often becomes tedious. Children will now receive their certificates from their teachers during the final week of each half term. Parents will be invited instead to come into school to watch our SEAL(Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning) assemblies. At the end of each half term, the children give a presentation about what they have learned during their SEAL lessons. I am sure you will enjoy these assemblies much more as it will be the children themselves who are presenting. These assemblies will be split into KS1 and KS2 for reasons of space in the Hall.
You are welcome to come and watch these assemblies on the following days:
3rd April 3pm KS1 SEAL assembly
4th April 3pm KS2 SEAL assembly
5th April 2.30pm Whole school Easter celebrations ‘The Eggs Factor!’

Advanced Notice

Our Summer Fair will be held on Saturday July 7th

Brain Awareness Week

This was a very successful week, during which the children learned about their brains and how they learn best. We are planning a series of visitors to school in order to continue the theme of ‘multiple intelligences’ which I hope will help the children to decide which sort of ‘smart’ they are. We have planned so far:
Owls great & small – for nature smart
Visiting author – for word smart
Gymnasts – for body smart
Art week – for 2D/3D smart
